When God shifts our business plans, it’s never to harm us. Often, His redirection comes for one of three reasons:
- Protection — Guarding us from burnout, bad partnerships, or poorly timed opportunities.
- Preparation — Developing new skills, refining our character, or growing our capacity for the next season.
- Positioning — Moving us closer to our divine assignment and the people we are called to serve.
Recognizing these reasons helps us trust that even uncomfortable changes are for our good.
Signs the Holy Spirit is Redirecting Your Business
How do you know if it’s truly God prompting the change? Look for these signs:
Conviction, not confusion — You feel a shift in your spirit, not just indecision.
Your peace feels off — Everything looks good on paper, but you can’t shake the unease.
Doors are closing — Opportunities that used to come easily suddenly dry up.
Persistent nudges — You can’t stop thinking about a new idea, direction, or group of people to serve.
3 Steps to Follow God’s New Direction
Pause the Push
Stop forcing the old plan to work. Give yourself permission to slow down or stop completely so you can hear from God clearly.
Seek Confirmation
Pray, fast (even if just for a day), journal, search Scripture, and consult wise, faith-filled counsel. Always bring advice back to the Lord for confirmation.
Take the First Faith Step
You may not get the full picture right away, but obey the next step God reveals. As you move, He’ll guide you to the next.
